The Work of a Lifetime

A Synthesis of Faith and Reason

A project born from the conviction that European culture has inalienable roots — and that they are worth cultivating

Deo, Reginae Poloniae et Patriae

The fruit of Fr. Prof. Guz's entire spiritual, priestly, and philosophical journey is the "Athens of Roztocze — Deo, Reginae Poloniae et Patriae" center, being built since March 2020 on his family's ancestral land in Szozdy. It is a project without precedent in the history of the Church in Poland — a synthesis of Jerusalem, Athens, and Rome, embodied in stone, wood, and bronze:
"The Athens of Roztocze is a project-synthesis of Jerusalem as a symbol of God's Revelation in the Old and New Testaments, of antiquity from ancient Greece as the cradle of philosophy and science in general, and of ancient Rome with its Roman law astonishingly faithful to natural law, and at the same time the capital of the Holy Catholic Church of our Lord Jesus Christ."
The center comprises the House of Ancient Philosophy dedicated to God the Father, the House of Medieval Philosophy dedicated to the Son of God, the Chapel of the Queen of Poland, the Rosary Garden, and a planned monumental statue of Jesus Christ the King of the Universe. Every element of this work has been thought through to the smallest detail — from black oak beams more than 1,700 years old, through partisan crosses from the largest partisan cemetery in Europe, to granite slabs from the dismantled "Friendship" bridge between Słubice and Frankfurt an der Oder.
The statue of Christ the King, greeting those entering the center, expresses the heart of the entire work. Fr. Guz explains its symbolism:
"Those entering Athens are greeted by the Incarnate Logos of the Eternal God the Father — the Eternal Son of God the Father and at the same time our Lord Jesus Christ, the only true Messiah. He is the key to understanding the entire universe, all of creation, because in Him, and with Him, and for Him, God the Father together with the Holy Spirit created the whole universe. And that is why we placed Christ here, so that He would greet everyone coming to this place."
